On March 19^th, in joint effort with local Moose Lodge No. 1128/2315, Dr. Shrink held a Cornhole Tournament where all the proceeds raised went towards the Relay for Life by the American Cancer Society. Twenty-three teams came out to support the cause from all around the area.

International Shrink Wrap Supplier Dr. Shrink Raises Funds for Relay for Life by Hosting Local Charity Cornhole Tournament

                Dr. Shrink is well known for giving back to their local community in the small town of Manistee, MI. On March 19^th, in joint effort with local Moose Lodge No. 1128/2315, Dr. Shrink held a Cornhole Tournament where all the proceeds raised went towards the Relay for Life by the American Cancer Society. Twenty-three teams came out to support the cause from all around the area.
“We are doing a cornhole benefit for Relay for Life that is a joint effort of Team Moose Tracks (Relay for Life Team) from the Moose Lodge No. 1128/2315 and Dr. Shrink,” said Melissa Spoor, HR Manager at Dr. Shrink. “We talked to some of the people in the area and they said we should do an indoor bags (cornhole) tournament because some of them want to play and that is where the idea came from. We were hoping for at least 20 teams and we got 23, so we are good with that number. The tournament style is double-elimination and we are paying out cash prizes for first and second prizes. There is $200 for first place, $100 for second place and we have trophies for the first three places.”
Dr. Shrink and the Manistee Moose Lodge made it a fun day to be able to support such a great cause. The event had a full concession stand, beverages, silent auction, and other giveaways available for the players and spectators with all proceeds going towards the Relay for Life. Dr. Shrink is hoping to do another tournament at the Relay for Life on July 30^th in Manistee, MI or in the late fall or winter. The tournament raised over $2,600 for the Relay for Life.
Mike Stenberg, Dr. Shrink President/CEO enjoyed the tournament and stated, “We at Dr. Shrink are well pleased with the excellent turnout at our first annual cornhole tournament.  The teams had a great time while the final tally for Relay For Life was just shy of $2,700.00.  Of course, we had plenty of volunteers and sponsors to make the program come together. Thanks to everyone!”

Some Frequently Asked Questions – Answered! “What color shrink wrap should I use? Is there a difference?”  Dr. Shrink’s premium shrink wrap comes in blue, white, and clear. Blue absorbs sunlight allowing ice and snow to fall off of the cover easier during the winter. Used for winter storage and not recommended to be used as a transportation cover. White reflects sunlight and harmful UV rays. Best used for transportation covers and general outside storage. White shrink wrap is also the color of choice for work enclosures and scaffolding. it provides shadow-free lighting and good color rendition. Clear shrink wrap is commonly used for greenhouses and non-storage applications. “Can the heat from the heat tool cause damage?”  We must first mention the propane fired heat tools used in shrink wrapping must be used in accordance with the directions in the training DVD. Always remember safety first! The heat from the tool is swept over the cover, almost like spray painting, and is never left on one spot long enough to damage vinyl graphics, paint, gel coat, etc. In fact, the shrink wrap will become thin and hols will form before enough heat is transferred to damage the boat or object. If the shrink wrap should get a burn hole, and it appears the wrap is stuck to the boat, allow the wrap to cool and it will come loose by itself. “How do I repair tear/melt holes in the cover?”  It is very easy to repair any holes that are made on a shrink wrap cover. If it is a small hole, a piece of our Heat Shrink Tape will fix it quickly. If it is a larger hole, a scrap of shrink wrap approximately 3″ larger than the hole may be taped on the original cover and lightly shrunk. We know there is that one object that you’ve been hesitant about wrapping because you are unsure of where to begin. Let us gladly answer your questions and help you figure out the best technique. Relay for Life Charity Fundraiser Dr. Shrink is hosting a Cornhole Tournament fundraiser with local Manistee Moose Lodge #1128 for Relay for Life. The tournament is double elimination, but there will also be side contests and other activities happening. A full concession stand will be available as well. Installing vents on a shrink wrap cover allows air to circulate under the cover to eliminate moisture from forming. If the shrink wrapped product is in a climate prone to extreme dust and debris, the particles can sometimes get into the cover through the ventilation openings. Dr. Shrink’s new DS-683F Weather-Tight Filter Vent uses a filter pad inside the vent top to keep dust, bugs, dirt and other debris out of shrink wrapped products.
Identical to the standard DS-683 Weather-Tight Vent, the DS-683F Filter Vent is easy to install, inexpensive, versatile, has a replaceable filter, and works in any climate. Dr. Shrink President/CEO, Michael Stenberg states, “Shrink wrap applications are being installed all around the world and we have to consider the differing climates. Dr. Shrink’s new Filter Vent will work well in the Middle East for dust, bees, and bugs and for all other areas of the world prone to dust and debris.”
The DS-683F Filter Vent comes with the filter pre-installed. Users who already have the standard DS-683 Weather-Tight Vent can opt to purchase the Filter Kit add-on (DS-FILTERKIT) which comes with 2 filter pads and 1 Velcro strip to apply on their existing DS-683 vent. Installation of the Filter Kit is simple; remove the top of vent and insert Velcro strip on inside of vent top (end to end). Install the filter pad on Velcro making sure it sticks firmly, and then put the Vent top back on the bottom.
