Hello everyone! The Christmas season is upon us and Dr. Shrink, Inc. is looking forward to our annual holiday party with our team members next Friday. We are also planning a visit from Santa for all our little Dr. Shrinkers the following Friday! Tis the season.. and we are sure enjoying the festivities!

As 2022 comes to an end and we conclude our 30th year in business, I am humbled by the amount of customers, distributors, and friends who have sent warm wishes and support. We would not be here today if it wasn’t for all of you. I hope we have surpassed your expectations in both customer service and supplying the highest quality shrink wrap materials in the market.

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! The fall colors here in Michigan are absolutely beautiful and we are enjoying a pleasantly warm fall season.

Shipping Cost Explanation

All shipments are rated with a number of carriers; and the rates returned are based on several variable weight and size thresholds in addition to contractual obligations that have been negotiated with the companies we partner with.

As we’re all aware, COVID-19 has changed the way companies ship product. Due to mass driver shortages, an influx of product moving in the network, and increased fuel costs, shipping prices have sky-rocketed across the board. In addition to that, we’re heading into peak Holiday season which adds ‘peak season surcharges’ to all parcel shipments with FedEx and USPS. We have no control over this.

For the last couple years, our society has been experiencing inflation happening in all markets due to these rising costs around the globe. Groceries, toiletries, and goods and services across the board have been impacted, and sadly, our shipping costs are not exempt from the issue. As we are charged more, we must, in turn, pass those increases along to the customer as any business would.

Should you ever feel our shipping costs are too high, you’re welcome to use your own carriers to ship product. Simply provide us the carrier name, BOL (if LTL), and schedule the pick-up. We can provide skid counts and dimensions for you to obtain rates if necessary. If you choose to go this route, we are certain you’ll find the above to be true. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to be your trusted shrink wrap supplier and always do our best to be as transparent as possible while providing excellent service and support. It is apparent within the marine industry that winterization season is here. For those of you who already have a mobile marine shrink wrap business in place and want to expand your services, you could consider offering shrink wrap for patio furniture, grills, jet skis, lawn mowers, campers/RVs, air conditioning units, outdoor pools, and many other items that need protection during the winter.

  • The vehicle has a separate trunk, truck bed, or SUV rear gate
  • The vehicle has ample space to load
  • The space is cleared for the material prior to loading (Note, if the space is cluttered or materials/items need to be moved, the customer will be asked to come back after they have made room for the materials)

Customers are welcome to load their own material if they are physically able. Please make sure you reference the weight and dimensions of your shrink wrap rolls and other items to be able to accommodate your pick-up.

Information to note prior to pick-up:

  • Come to the back of Dr. Shrink for pickup (shipping/receiving area)
  • Please do not block loading dock area
  • Remain in your vehicle and call 800-968-5147 to let us know you are here for pickup

Thank you to everyone who donated at our Blood Drive last week. We ended the day with a total of 19 donations which equals 57 lives saved! Dr. Shrink, Inc. will be hosting another drive at the end of September and we will give more details as the date gets closer.

I would also like to give a shout out to all of the Made in America companies as we celebrate the upcoming Independence Day holiday. Dr. Shrink, Inc. has been a proud supplier of Made in America products for 30 years and counting. All of our high quality, Made in America shrink wrap is the backbone of our nearly 80,000 square foot warehouse that also stocks propane fired heat tools and all accessories necessary for any shrink wrap job.

Dr. Shrink was happy to help an organization called “A Kid Again” pack 1,200 cinch-packs that were given out to children at the Rides & Slides Day at Michigan’s Adventure last week! A Kid Again fosters hope, happiness and healing for families raising children with life-threatening conditions. The organization hosts year-round events to support these families while providing memories that will last a lifetime. We hope all the kids and their families had a wonderful, fun-filled day!

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend and took time to remember and honor all the servicemen and servicewomen, our American Heroes, who have given their all for America.

Dr. Shrink is excited to introduce a new product to our line– the Scaff Hat! The Scaff Hat is used to prevent scaffold leg ends (and scaffold tube/pin edges) from penetrating and/or poking through the shrink wrap. Please read through the designated section below and contact us with any and all questions!

I would like to remind our Michigan customers of our Recycling Run for shrink wrap covers in need of recycling. Registration Forms are due today (Wednesday, June 1st) – please see the section below for more details. If you are located in other states, we have a few other partner programs in place.

We are hosting a blood drive on Friday, June 24th from 9:00am – 2:30pm. You can sign up for a time slot in the section below. If you are not local, maybe this will serve as a friendly reminder to consider donating at a blood drive near you!

Another interesting use for shrink wrap! A customer used some scrap 8-mil shrink wrap to redo some worn out boat cushions that make up the “floor” of his cuddy cabin that is used for storage. The customer was able to salvage the cushions with shrink wrap and it was a less expensive option than paying for custom made cushions. Please keep in mind this area is used for storage purposes on the boat– shrink wrap is very slippery when wet!

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to send congratulatory wishes, messages and posts regarding our 30 Years in Business milestone. It was great hearing from customers, friends, and distributors all across the world! What an honor it has been to have this connection and working relationship with all of you over the years. I look forward to working with you for many years to come.

Manistee, Michigan – Dedication to its customers, world-class customer service, premium product offerings, and willingness to provide experienced advice on the proper way to shrink wrap are just a few of the reasons Dr. Shrink, Inc. has been in business so long. The company celebrates 30 years of success in April 2022.

Starting in 1985, before the birth of Dr. Shrink, Inc., Mike Stenberg worked as a shrink wrap installer wrapping boats, machinery, airplanes, buildings, etc. for about seven years, where he perfected the trade and acquired skills to make shrink wrapping easier and more efficient. As shrink wrapping became more prevalent and widespread, Mike saw a more pressing need for distribution of premium shrink wrap and installation supplies; thus his focus shifted from being a shrink wrap installer to a distributor. In 1992, Mike retreated from the actual shrink wrap installation work to focus on the selling and distributorship of shrink wrap materials—and this is when Dr. Shrink, Inc. was born.

Dr. Shrink, Inc. was founded in 1992, by Mike & Jill Stenberg in Manistee, Michigan, as a two-person operation in their home. It has since grown into a 20+ employee international corporation that distributes its products across the world.

“Taking a step back and thinking about the last 30 years, it’s humbling,” says Mike Stenberg, President & Founder of Dr. Shrink, Inc. “Jill and I started Dr. Shrink, Inc. in our home and distributed products out of our garage. Our initial vision for the company was to offer expert shrink wrap installation advice, technical support, and provide excellent customer service—all while selling the highest quality, premium shrink wrap and accessories as a “one stop shop” for all things shrink wrap. Today we couldn’t be more proud of this company, and the people we have on our team. Spring is here, although you wouldn’t know it from the weather in Michigan! Snow and sleet yesterday made for icy roads today– hoping to see some spring weather soon! On that note, I hope you have your recycling plans in place for when those shrink wrap covers come off your boat and/or outdoor items. Please see our section below on ways you can properly recycle used shrink wrap covers. For those in Michigan, you can purchase our EZ-Fill bags and schedule your pick-up with our recycling partner! If you are located outside of Michigan, you can still recycle your shrink wrap film. To start, call your local recycling center and ask them if they will accept #4 LDPE plastic sheeting. How To Properly Remove a Shrink Wrap Cover

Take a look at these quick and simple steps to removing a shrink wrap cover for recycling.

  1. Remove the boat cover by cutting above the perimeter band going around the boat. Using a Dr. Shrink Film Knife makes this step quick and easy; our Film Knife has a safe-hooded blade to help protect your boat from scratches.
  2. After taking the cover off the boat, remove buckles, vents, all strapping, and perimeter band. Dispose in trash normally.
  3. Stuff ONLY your shrink wrap boat cover into the EZ-Fill recycling bag, stuffing firmly to the bottom.
  4. Zip-tie the bag shut at the base of where the plastic inside stops, so no water or dirt can get inside.
  5. Store in a covered location where water and debris are minimized.
